I've created this blog to continue with our summers in the Moose River Campground in St. Johnsbury, Vermont as "seasonal campers". It contains write-up and pictures from 2023 on.
From here, you can view our other blogs, including Florida for attractions we visited during the winter months, by clicking on the links to the right.

Campground almost back to Normal - September 26, 2024
It's been weeks since putting anything on this blog and that's because we have been cleaning up all the debris and mud from the last flood. The campground is almost back to normal now and looking good and decorated for the Fall.
Campground Flooded AGAIN - July 30, 2024
The second time in a month, the campground flooded again. This time the water, debris and lots of mud came from a flash flood from the hill across the street. It was another long day. It rained 8.4 inches over six hours.
We had 10 people that made chili. All of them were really good too. After tasting ten different chilis, I sure wasn't hungry for dinner. We all had a great time and only one was really hot.
Mexican Potluck - July 13, 2024
Even floods can't stop this campground from having an event. New this year was a Mexican Potluck dinner. We had a good variety of Mexican dishes and everything was good.
About Us
Jack & Loretta
We are a couple that worked for 30 years, retired and decided to buy a motor home and travel throughout the U.S. So, we retired, moved to Florida, bought a motor home and traveled for five to six months each summer throughout the United States for the next 18 years. Then in 2017 we decided to stay in one place for the summer instead of continuing to travel. We sold our motor home and purchased a fifth wheel and became "seasonal campers" at the Moose River campground in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
It's great and we are having a great time enjoying doing stuff around the campground and taking day trips around the area.
We would love to hear your comments, so please let us know what you think.

Flooding in our campground - July 10, 2024
We got loads of rain from Hurricane Beryl and the river overflowed. All the sites from 7 to 23 are now under water, including us. It started Wednesday, July 10th and continued to rain almost all day on the 11th. This is the worst we have ever seen. Gary managed to move everyone on the river, except us. Our rig is 44-feet long and the campground is full and no place to put us. We are stable and as long as it stays that way, I think we will be fine. I just hope the rains stop and the river goes back down. This is not fun.
Update: July 12th - We actually stayed in our fifth-wheel the whole time. We didn't get much sleep because we kept checking the jacks and site for erosion. By July 12th, the river receded, and we are once again surrounded by grass, not water. There was no damage to our fifth wheel and the water didn't wash out any of our site, and our deck stayed in place solidly sitting on the ground the whole time. However, the rushing waters put deep ruts in the road so Gary has been repairing them all day. There was only minor damage to the sites but lots of debris.
We had an appearance of the ice cream truck, a roast beef dinner pot luck and a country singer to entertain us around a huge bonfire.
There were seven of us at this one. I really liked the picture of an old truck with flowers and an American Flag. We all had a great time.
We were hit by a deer - June 29, 2024
On our way back from the Great Race, we were hit by a deer. OMG! my car is damaged but was drivable, but the deer didn't make out as well.
The 2024 Great Race, Freeport, Maine - June 28, 2024
We drove over to Freeport, Maine to look at all the cars in the Great Race. Over a hundred cars came rolling into town greeted by thousands of fans. They must have had five blocks of Main Street closed down to accommodate parking of all the cars. We really enjoyed walking around looking at them.
Golden Jubilee at the Campground - May 18-19, 2024
Dog Mountain celebrates the Golden Retrievers dogs every year and the campground usually fills up with campers taking their golden retrievers that for the party. We didn't go to the mountain, but I did take a few pictures of the dogs here.
On our way back to Vermont - May 1, 2024
Wow, the winter went by fast! Here we are traveling north to Vermont for the summer. Our flight was good, but I still can't get over how some people can be so forward. A woman in front of us told the flight attendant that the woman in seat #25 would be paying for her snacks (don't know if they were related or not), but then after she finished her snacks, she turned around and asked if we were going to finish our M&M's! Can you imagine....
The next three days, we set-up, cleaned-up and helped around the campground. We were so busy that I didn't even have time to play cards with Mary. The weather is cold and raining. Temperatures have been in the high 50's during the day and down to low 40's at night. Saturday, we had our first campfire of the season, unfortunately, it was cold, windy and attended by only ten people (mostly seasonal campers). Die-hard campers have a bonfire regardless.....
