We woke up at 2:30 am this morning to Mary blowing her car horn to let us know that we had to get out of our rigs, the campground was flooding. It had been raining since 1 am and continued until 6:00 am. This time, we had no warning and no time, except to get out and onto the deck. By 3 am everyone had been evacuated to the deck, some in their P.J.'s and lots of pets. All anyone could do now was to have a cup of coffee, a donut and watch the rain come down and water, debris and mud cover the campground. All the water came from a flash flood rushing down the hill, down the street, through the property next door and into the campground. Water, debris and lots of mud washed out four sites in the middle of the campground and the road going into the river at the end of the campground. Four sites in the middle of the campground and three sites at the end got the worse of the mud. The force of the water pulled up five or six fences around the dog run and pushed them down into the campground. Mary said she saw one floating down the river.
Thanks to the quick work of Mary and Gary, everyone was rescued from their rigs. The sad part, the guys had just finished cleaning up and regrading the road from the last flood, three weeks ago. Now all that work has to be redone. I have really had it with rain...
