Jack and I went over to the Northwestern Speedway Reunion at the small racetrack up the road. The track is a small round and round track that doesn’t have any races but this reunion once a year. Today there are race cars and show cars. The race cars were all parked circling the track while the show cars were on the infield. They had some very nice show cars and the race cars were period coupes, late models and NEAR race cars, NEAR – Northeast Automobile Racing. The race cars were something else. The things they did to race, the way some were set up with tilted seats, off center bodies and nothing inside but a seat. We walked around all the cars and watched as they "raced" around the track. Of course they didn't really race but rather just drove around the track several times for show but they still sounded pretty good. One race car was even set up for a handicapped driver. It had two steering wheels and a swivel seat. It was a lot of fun.
