July 13 to July 15 - We drove down to Uncasville, CT to surprise our friends, Diane and Frank who drove up with their classic Pontiac for the PONTIAC-OAKLAND CLUB INTERNATIONAL (POCI) show. They were surprised and not surprised to see us because even though we didn't tell them we were going to be there, Jack asked too many questions about where and when that they figured we were planning to come. There were something like 800 cars there, inside the convention building and outside. Boy, there were some really nice cars plus specials like the Monkey's car, the Red Baron car and even a supercharged golf cart. I sent Mary a picture of the golf cart and told her Jack said he wanted this one next time.
We both had a great time talking to Diane and Frank and other members of the club, looking at the cars and trying our luck at the slots. Hey, It's a casino, naturally we had to try our luck! This casino is really BIG and we walked and walked and still didn't see the whole place. They have convention centers, ballrooms, concert halls, a game room, a bowling alley, pools, bars, restaurants, waterfalls, hotel and plenty of shops. The inside is gorgeous and there were more different slots than I've ever seen. We played a number of them but spent most of our time with Diane and Frank. We ate at several restaurants and won't disappointed. Johnny Rockets has really good hamburgers, Pepe's Pizza, Home of the original tomato pie was very good and Ballo Italian Restaurant with good chicken parmesan.
Thursday the club ended the week with a dinner for members and gave out awards. Frank won the Gold award, which is the highest award unless you want to go for Senior and National Gold. So he was very happy.
Jack bought a Ford hat and didn't want
to carry it, so he made me wear it. I took Breakfast line in the hotel, still keeping
it off before going into the Pontiac show! 6-foot distance

On Saturday the campground had a Wine and Cheese social. Mary outdid herself with trays of finger sandwiches of turkey and roast beef, chicken salad, egg salad, tuna salad, trays of different kinds of cheese, trays of pretzel bits, trays of pastries, trays of desserts and a tray of vegetables. Everyone brought their own beverage. Good turnout and everything was excellent.
