ICE! - Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Gaylord Palms Hotel, Kissimmee, FL
December 13, 2022
Once again, the ice show was great! It was really cold inside at 9 degrees and our fingers froze but it was worth it. Thank goodness for those big heavy coats they give you.

Production: The Cold room is 16,000 feet. It takes 7 "Air Handlers" to keep it at a constant 9-degree Fahrenheit of 33 days of carving and 52-day run for the show.
Creation: The Gaylord Hotels employ 35 Ice Artisans, including 25 builders, 9 detail carvers and 2 electricians. It takes the team almost 12,000 man-hours to shape the ice. 3 ice factories are used to produce 6,000 ice blocks needed for each show.
Origin: Each block of ice measures 10"x21"x42" and weighs 300 pounds. At 35 gallons of water per block, it takes 210,000 gallons to make enough ice for each show. The team of artisans carving the ice for this attraction hails from HeilongJiang province, China, home of the Harbin Ice Festival, with a tradition of ice sculpture going back generations.
