Summer ends

The rains finally came and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow across the campground. The grass and shrubs are starting to come back just in time for winter's snow. We have been helping to close up the campground and closed down our rig for the winter. We actually stayed in a hotel a few nights so we could help. To our surprise, the morning we left it snowed! This happened last year; I sure hope it's not going to be a annual thing....We also saw a new Mustang parked in the parking lot; an SUV Mustang? I don't like it!

The campground lost two months of reservations and many cancelled this year due to Covid-19 but when restrictions were finally lifted, it was full right up to the last day. I guess people were really tired of being cooped up for the past nine or so months and just had to get out. Of course having a full campground right up to the last day made it more challenging to close down. We were happy for Mary and expect a banner year next year because a lot of campers were from the local areas and rediscovered this campground.

Our travels down to Virginia was good, seeing my sister and family and friends along the way; and we didn't have to quarantine anywhere because we were coming from Vermont (the only green state). The trip wasn't without incident, however. The hotel we stayed at in Springfield, VA the night before our train trip, had the fire alarm go off at 9:30am and fire trucks show up shortly after. We all had to evacuate the hotel (yes, we were already up). Apparently, someone was smoking near a smoke detector and set off the alarm. We were allowed back in 20 minutes or so later. Nothing like excitement in the morning.

The train trip home was good. They were only half full, we wiped down everything and had our meals brought to our room. We left early and arrived early but we had to wait for our car. By the time it came off, there were only 10 people waiting. We did some shopping before going home and once there our house was 82 degrees inside. We normally keep it set at 82 degrees during the summer so nothing unusual but turning it down to cool off the house, didn't do anything! We called our service and turned out we were out of Freon. Never did that before. Upon checking, we had a leak. That's got to be fixed!

The weather in Florida has been in the 90's or higher and that day it was hot. The next day, the temperature was down to the high 70's; you're welcome Florida. Had the leak fixed and all is right with the house.

Do we have to quarantine? Well, I really don't know but we don't plan to go much of anywhere for a while anyway, just glad to be back home.

Hope everyone is staying safe and looking forward to a somewhat normal winter.

Love to all,

Loretta & Jack
